Name: Diane Yang
Hometown: Taipei, Taiwan
Role: HR Specialist
Do you have a favourite place you’ve travelled:
In Taiwan, I’d say my favourite is the east coast of Taiwan, so Hualien and Taitung area. They have beautiful coastlines and the unique culture of the indigenous people. I’ve also enjoyed all my trips to different countries, so it’s hard to pick a favourite.
What’s the best thing about Taiwan?
Public transportation is convenient, so travelling around is easy, and the food is amazing! You can find all kinds of cuisine from the world, which is great for a foodie like me. Also, people generally are very friendly and kind. You’d have no problem getting help anywhere and you feel safe everywhere you go.
How do you support Foresight teachers in your role as HR Support?
I communicate with teachers during their interview process and after they arrive in Taiwan. I assist them with visa application, accommodation searching, bank account set up, etc. During the school year, I help with organizing excursions, gatherings, and tax filing, along with other communications in daily life. I’m also happy to give recommendations on food!
What is the most rewarding part of your role?
I think it’s knowing that the teachers are enjoying their time here, maybe even falling in love with Taiwan and the students. We really appreciate the different perspectives and experiences the teachers can bring to our education system and students here.
