As Taiwan lies on the Tropic of Cancer and is a small island, the climate is marine tropical. Spring and winter in Taiwan see more unstable weather patterns, while in summer and autumn the weather is relatively stable. The annual average temperature is 22 degrees Celsius, with snow found only in select mountain areas during winter.
The main rainy season is from March through May, hot, humid weather is common from June to September, and typhoons are common between July and October. During the typhoon season, when typhoons are predicted to seriously affect Taiwan, work and school are cancelled in the affected areas.
